Cup or Pail vs. Cone

Traditionally a sno ball is served in a cone (usually called a sno cone) -- not in New Orleans -- a SnoBall is generally served in a cup or a pail.  Which do you prefer?  12" acrylic and plaster on canvas.

Favorite Flavors

Coming soon -- Sno Ball in a cup.  Favorite flavors --Spearmint (Mom),  Chocolate & Banana with cream (Vance),  Almond Cream with cream (it's a really pretty color), and  Coconut with cream.  Funny..... when asking some of my friends what their favorite flavors were ....  Coconut was everyone's favorite.  It's like a personality test -- like flavors attract.

Sno Ball

Decadence in a cup - or pail.  Plum Street -  formerly Mr. William's when I was little-- is a must when we're in NO.  My favorite flavor is Coconut.  This first one pictured here is Cherry, and the second, one of my other favorites - Nectar with cream .  12" acrylic and plaster on canvas. I will be in New Orleans at The Occasional Wife for Art for Arts Sake on October 3rd.  Will have plenty of new art.  Stop by if you're in town.

Fleur de Lis -- The symbol for the rebuilding of new Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.  Fleur de Lis -- Flower of Lilly.  Fleur de Lis -- symbol of the Holy Trinity.  Fleur de Lis --emblem of the Kings of France.  8"x10" acrylic and plaster on canvas.

Weekend in my Studio

Spent the weekend working on new pieces for The Occasional Wife - Magazine St. - New Orleans (will ship them out at the end of the week -- should be in store at the end of next week.  These are 8"x10" -- plaster and acrylic on canvas.  See finished pieces under title "fleur de lis"

Gaudy - adj. - showy or tasteless in a vulgar way.

I love these two crowns that I've called "Gaudy Gras" -- jewels and loud colors -- 12"x12" acrylic and plaster on canvas.  Showy, tasteless, vulgar?  maybe .........

Have only done 4 of these -- love them!  Paint and plaster and jewels and stitching.

Gumbo of Fun

Just testing this out.   A bit of everything that I do.  Just as of right now -- who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Angels and Virgins on Ceiling Tile

Three different images of The Virgin and the angel Gabriel photographed at Mission San Xavier del Bac.  I just completed these pieces yesterday as well.

Angels of Metairie Cemetery

Angels of Metairie Cemetery

I photographed these angels in the beautiful Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans in 2008 and 2009.   Metairie Cemetery which opened in 1872, is the home to more than 7000 graves and has the largest collection of elaborate tombs and statuary in the city of New Orleans.  Each of the photographs are printed on canvas and adhered to a piece of antique ceiling tile.   I just completed these pieces yesterday.

Acrylic and Plaster on Canvas

O.K.,  please bear with me, I'm just getting started and trying to figure everything out.  These pieces can be found at The Occasional Wife on Magazine St. in NO - 504-302-9893.  I've had so much fun working on these over the last few months.  It's plaster and acrylic on canvas with a bit of gold and silver leaf.  There are a couple that have been done on old barnwood as well.  I haven't abandoned the religious pieces, but this has been a fun change.  I needed a bit of whimsey in my life.
